Dear. Fr. Roderick and crew,
I discovered “That Catholic Show” for the first time this morning. What a great way to share and explain our faith. As a DRE I’m always looking for such resources and having it on YouTube really allows you to reach a larger audience.
I do have one suggestion (based only on episode 6.) Instead of reading the CCC quotes verbatim I would suggest summarizing them in more concise terms. I am not suggesting “dumbing down” the quotes. I’m not one of those who believes the CCC is too difficult for the “folks in the pew.” But, even as someone with a professional level working knowledge of the CCC I found the quotes to be a lot to digest in a short time. (I’m primarily a visual learner.) Also, it has been my experience in ministry in the 14 years since the CCC was first published, that it takes folks a while to get used to some of the terminology and it really is a resource to be studied, not “read.”
Please don’t let my comments overshadow the fact that you’re doing a great job with an important service to the Gospel here and I do appreciate it. Know that you will be in my prayers. Please keep me in yours.
After reading my comment and watching the video a second time, I must say that you did an excellent job of using the images to visually explain the CCC quote. In the words of Emily Litella, “Never mind.” Blessings to all!
To talk about priests bishops and even popes and not to mention deacons as the first order of the NT and the point at which all ordained gain an initial and indelible mark of Holy Orders is misleading to the faithful. I am surprised by use of the Ignatius quote, the catholic response is the full quote of St. I of A “You must all follow the bishop as Jesus Christ follows the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles. Reverence the deacons as you would the command of God. Let no one do anything of concern to the Church without the bishop”
God Bless
